This footprint was the second of 122 tracks found in the muddy lakebed of Cottage Grove Reservoir. As can be seen in the photograph, the substrate was mostly sandy at this point, and it had many tufts of grass sprouting throughout the area. Underground roots made much of this area hard to make impression in resulting in half casts (such as track number one). However, in this print the majority of the foot made an excellent impression.
All five toes can be clearly seen in the photograph. The fifth digit is not quite as clearly impressed as the others, but it is there. The toe splay, particularly in the third, fourth, and fifth digits, was startling to behold.
